GAME ON! 2ALC Back Multiple SCOTUS Cases

These are heady times at the Supreme Court for several reasons, not the least of which is the battle to clarify the Bruen standard. The Second Amendment Law Center remains on the front lines of several cases currently pending before the Court, including:

Wolford v. Lopez (Granted cert) - Challenging “sensitive places” laws in Hawaii (and by extension California).

U.S. v. Hemani (Granted cert) & Harris v. U.S. (Cert petition filed) - Challenging laws banning firearm possession by those who use marijuana.

Gator’s Custom Guns v. Washington (In conference) & Duncan v. Bonta (In conference) - Challenging bans on magazines over 10 rounds.

Viramontes v. Cook County (In conference) & NAGR v. Lamont (Cert petition filed) - Relating to semi-automatic and “assault weapons” bans.

Schoenthal v. Raoul (Cert petition filed) - Challenging a carry-ban on public transit..

Duarte v. U.S. (In conference) - Challenging California’s categorical ban on gun possession by felons is unconstitutional if applied to a non-felon.

As you can see the docket is packed, with all the hot-button 2A issues. Clearly the Court is poised to clarify, and hopefully strengthen, the standard set in Bruen.

2ALC is already hard at work on amicus briefs in all these cases, partnering with allies like the California Rifle & Pistol Association, SADEC, Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners of California and Second Amendment Foundation to make the most of this historic opportunity.
