State Supreme Court Upholds Magazine Ban

Washington’s Supreme Court has upheld the state’s ban on magazines, voting 7-2 to override a Superior Court ruling that the ban violated the Second Amendment. In today’s ruling, the majority found that magazines were not arms, thereby skirting the application of the Bruen standard in assessing restrictions the the right to keep and bear arms.

Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Gary Bashor ruled last April that the state’s ban holding that the law was not “consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.” Judge Bashor’s decision applied the Bruen decision properly, comparing the law with historical precedents as the Supreme Court intended.

This case will more than likely join other cases from across the country like Duncan v. Bonta to ask the SCOTUS for clarification under Bruen of this important issue affecting every gun owner. 2ALC stands ready to support cases like this that could help to clarify the Bruen standard once and for all. The improper application of Bruen carries on in jurisdiction after jurisdiction…it’s time to put a stop to it!
